Viridor volunteers help with our Routes to the River Tone Project

Melanie Huggins, Head of Corporate Responsibility, Viridor Waste Management said: "It is fantastic to see our volunteers making a real difference to a local area. I am really excited about launching this policy and working with Somerset Wildlife Trust, on a project which will have lasting community benefits. We have received 100% positive feedback so far”

If you're looking for an opportunity for a group of employees to get out of the office, into the great outdoors and involved in hands-on nature conservation then a corporate volunteering day may well be of interest.   We offer bespoke options to suit your company/staff needs, whether you are looking for a one-off exercise for team-building and motivation, or if you are looking to fulfil part of your community CSR programme.

We run corporate volunteering days throughout the year across our 72 nature reserves, providing:

  • exclusive events for groups of all sizes and abilities,
  • team building and development opportunities,
  • all equipment and materials necessary for the task,
  • opportunities for guided walks
  • full training, health and safety provision and on-site briefing for the day’s task by our expert nature reserve officers.

Prior experience is not necessary, and staff can enjoy a truly productive, novel and memorable day away from the office, helping local wildlife through hands-on conservation tasks.

Costs involved

We ask companies to make a donation of £50 + VAT per head to help cover the costs of tools, equipment, health & safety provision, management and supervision. There is a 30% discount for Corporate Members.

“Many people are now distant from community and this is a chance to reconnect. Helping to create a decent and welcoming space for wildlife and the public alike is both satisfying and rewarding” Viridor Volunteer
