About the event

A collaborative event with Exmoor National Park.

  • Find out some fascinating wildlife facts
  • Learn how to use the iNaturalist app
  • Come on a butterfly & bug hunt
  • Try our wildlife quizzes and challenges, including the ‘Whose Poo?’ challenge!

Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

This is one of a series of events organised by West Somerset Wildways: part of Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Wilder Communities initiative. West Somerset Wildways has two key aims: to enable people of all ages to engage with wildlife, and to support people in using the iNaturalist app to contribute to the digital map of the county’s nature. West Somerset Wildways is part of the Somerset’s Wilder Coast project, funded by the HPC Community Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund.

Mobility

The Visitor Centre is on two levels, with the higher level being up a single step. The main activities will take place outside the centre (on slightly sloping ground) or if the weather is very bad, in the upper level of the Visitor Centre. Bug hunts will take place either outside the Visitor Centre or in the deer park next to the Dunster Steep car park. The deer park has steeply sloping, uneven ground.

Wheelchair users will be able to take part in bug hunts outside the Centre.

Parking information

Available at Dunster Steep car park, approx. 50m from the Visitor Centre. Please note: the car park and lower overflow car park are both on slopes.
