Wilder Matters is a series of live online events from Somerset Wildlife Trust which help you get to heart of the biggest environmental topics of the day and their relevance to Somerset. Find out more.

All across Somerset people are coming together in their schools, churches, work places and communities to do what they can to help nature recover.

We need your help to get to that magic moment and tip the balance in nature's favour. We need you to join Team Wilder - a team of people taking action for nature and wildlife across the county that they care about; doers, movers, shakers, ambassadors, campaigners and changemakers.  Because only together can we bring about the change that nature needs.

Working together for a Wilder Somerset.

We have a vision for Somerset. It is a county teeming with wildlife, valued by everyone. We see landscapes full of flowers, accompanied by a chorus of bird song and buzzing with insects. Find out our plan to create a wilder Somerset.

Development should not come at the expense of our natural environment. All development, be it housing, commercial or infrastructure must be designed and delivered in a way that contributes to nature’s recovery, not its decline.

Whether you're a teacher, run a youth club, are part of the Guiding or Scouting movement, or just want to find some fun nature activities to do with your kids or grandkids, you've come to the right place!

With an estimated 124,500 gardens in Somerset, covering 19 square kilometres of the county, these spaces have huge potential for nature. If we all gave a little bit more space for wildlife within our gardens, just image how much habitat we would create overall for nature. Gardens can also help us buffer the impacts of surface flooding, pollution run off, create cooler climates around our homes and are fantastic for our health and well being!

We're on a mission to help everyone in Somerset who looks after a garden to give more space to wildlife, here you'll find tips and downloads and ways to connect with others.
