A community beach clean to help collect litter that has accumulated on Minehead Beach over the festive period. In conjunction with Surfers Against Sewage and West Somerset Together Plastics Campaign.
There will be volunteers on hand to organise the beach clean, led by Mark Ward from the Somerset Wildlife Trust Somerset’s Brilliant Coast Project. This is one of a whole series of beach cleans that will be organised throughout 2019 as part of the Surfers Against Sewage Minehead Plastic Free Community initiative. Hot chocolate will be available at Channel Venture to warm us up afterwards.
The weather could be inclement at this time of year so bring warm and waterproof clothes. We will have a supply of litter pickers, bin bags and gloves (for children and for adults), but if you have your own sturdy gardening gloves, or similar, it is suggested you bring them with you too!
Wildlife Trust staff will give us a briefing on what to expect before we start.
Where: We shall be meeting outside the Beach Hotel on Minehead Promenade just before 1.30pm (sat nav: TA2 5AP). There is a pay and display parking adjacent to the Hotel and along the Promenade. There is free parking 5 minutes away in Blenheim Rd.
Contact/Booking: There is no need to register for this event, but if any queries then please contact: or ring 01823 652400
Cost: This event is free, but donations toward Somerset Wildlife Trust's Brilliant Coast work will be gratefully received.
If the weather is very bad, a decision might be made to cancel the event nearer the time – please check back here or on our Facebook and Twitter channels for updates.
