Wilder 2026 - Together for Nature
A day of celebration and sharing for people in Somerset who want to create a wilder future together.
About the event
Whether you’re passionate about nature-based solutions or climate change, keen on wildlife recording or want to create more space for nature in your own garden please come and take part!
The day will start with registration and tea and coffee at 10.30am
The morning session (11am -1pm + breaks) will consist of short presentations from community groups and individuals sharing their own successes and challenging. We will kick off with key-note talk by Billy Tompsett celebrating his youth inspired Skate Park Pollinators Project at Wiveliscombe. There will also be presentations from Minehead and from Wells on their Climate Adaptation Plans, a report on the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust successful Bridgwater Blue Heritage Project and a presentation from students from Bishop Fox's Community School on their 'Quack Pack' project: a youth-led venture about ducks and litter.
The extended lunch break (a buffet lunch is included with your booking) will be an opportunity to chat to people and browse the stalls from over 15 different community groups and key partner organisations.
In the afternoon there will be a choice of workshops (2.15pm to 3.15pm) which you can sign up to on the day. Including a walk/talk around Long Run Meadow led by the ‘Friends of’ group, a discussion on how to encourage behaviour change for Nature and an 'open space' session for people to bring along their own questions and stories. There will also be a ‘climate summit’ workshop. An annual opportunity for communities who already have or are planning to develop their own Climate Adaptation Plans to share notes and best practice.
The day will end at 3.30pm after a short summary and update on next year.

Advanced booking is essential: We want everyone to be able to attend this event regardless of finances. Tickets are “pay what you can” and a limited number of fully subsidised spaces are available - please only select a fully subsidised ticket if you intend to use us as no-shows and late cancellations cost our charity significantly, cause wastage and prevent other people from attending.
£5 is a donation towards the cost of your attendance.
£10 covers the cost of one persons catering for the day.
£15 covers the cost of one person's catering and venue hire for the day.
£20 reflects the full cost per-person of attending this event.

How can I share my project?

Speaker slots will be delivered Pecha Kucha style - 20 slides of 20 seconds each (total of 6 minutes and 4 seconds).
If you'd prefer to bring a display or run an activity, let us know!
We welcome attendance on behalf of a councils, larger NGO and the buisness community however please be aware that speaker and display slots are prioritised for community-led projects.
Can I bring my own food?
This is a fully catered venue, refreshments and lunch are included. Please do not bring your own food unless medically necessary. Please let us know during booking if you have any dietary requirements.
Is the event suitable for children?
This event is aimed at adults and young people aged 12+ only. Nursing mums and babes-in-arms welcome, changing facilities are available. If you have child care responsibilities we would welcome your attendance. There will be quiet crafting areas with a member of our youth team available to support during the talks. Please book individual places for your children.
Is the event accessible?
The venue is wheelchair accessible and guide dogs are welcome.
A quiet space will be available throughout the day.

Can I join online?
This is a live in-person forum, we will not be broadcasting online. This is an annual event taking place in a different part of the county each year.
How do I get there? Is parking available?
The postcode for the conference centre is TA1 5AX and free parking is available onsite for conference attendees. You need to register your car in the conference reception area immediately on arrival to avoid charges. The site is also accessible by bus and the train station is approximately a 20 minute walk.
