About the event

Featuring two acclaimed South West storytellers, this special performance weaves local community tales and ancient folklore with the mysterious, nocturnal world of the Pine Marten. Together, these stories explore our deep connection to the land and what it truly means to coexist with the wildlife returning to our moorlands.

Wessex Hag is a Podcast and performance project by artist Rosie May, exploring the lesser-known stories, figures and landscapes of Somerset. ‘Hag’ originates from the Old English name for ‘hedge’, a feature so familiar to be almost invisible, containing multitudinous richness that has supported and shaped human behaviour for millennia; a concept central to this storytelling project.

As a teller of tales rooted in the oral tradition passed down through generations, Henry Everett harnesses the magic of author-less narratives to challenge, comfort, provoke questions, and awaken curious awareness. To Henry, story is a medicine that bridges human connection. His repertoire centers on traditional tales inspired by our deep relationship with the land, bringing to life the spirits of place and the magic woven into the surrounding landscape.
