Why become a Trustee?

As a Trustee, you will:

• Play a vital role in shaping the Trust’s strategy and future direction
• Help protect and restore wildlife and habitats across Somerset
• Contribute to tackling the climate and ecological crisis locally
• Use your skills to influence meaningful, long-term change

This is an opportunity to make a real impact for nature and people, while working alongside a committed and experienced Board and leadership team.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for individuals who:

• Share our passion for nature and commitment to its recovery
• Can think strategically and contribute to effective decision-making
• Bring independent judgement, creativity, and a collaborative approach
• Are willing to dedicate time to support the Trust’s governance

You do not need previous Trustee experience—we will provide induction, training and ongoing support.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities, and career stages.

What's involved:

• Attend 4 Trustee meetings per year (half-day, in person)
• Join at least one committee (quarterly online meetings)
• Attend the AGM and an annual development day
• Prepare for meetings and contribute to discussions

Trustee terms are three years, with the option to renew.

This is a voluntary role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
