About the event

Join artist-makers Mark and Milly from Field System for an immersive, hands-on lino print workshop celebrating the nocturnal landscape of Exmoor and the historic return of the pine marten. This family-friendly session invites you to connect with local ecology through the tactile art of printmaking. Together, we will explore the night-time treetop world of the pine marten, uncovering the rich folklore and stories that surround this elusive forest creature. You will learn the foundational steps of relief printing, design and hand-print a custom cotton tote bag to take home, and contribute to a collaborative community banner that will decorate the stage for our free storytelling performance later in the day. Come celebrate the spirit of the forest's greatest trickster through collaborative making and nature lore.

What to expect:

Lore and ecology: Uncover the folklore and inspiring conservation story of the pine marten as this elusive woodland wanderer reclaims its ancient home in the Exmoor canopy.

Artistic discovery: Learn the craft of linocut printmaking, from ink rolling to hand-pressing.

A hand-printed souvenir: Create and print your own custom-designed tote bag.

Community collaboration: Add your unique print to a collective textile banner that will set the stage for our evening storytelling event.
