Mindfulness on the Coast
About the event
With Berrow Dunes and Bridgwater Bay as our setting, join mindfulness and well-being coach, Venetia Moore, and Somerset’s Brilliant Coast Project Manager, Mark Ward, for some gentle walking, mindfulness, tai chi and meditation to explore our connection with our natural world and how it can give us hope in these challenging times of climate and ecological crises.
This 4 hour session is based around well-being Shibashi movements, body work techniques and relaxations for inner and outer connection to ourselves and nature; interwoven with the ‘Work that Reconnects’ Active Hope process developed by environmental activist Joanna Macey (https://workthatreconnects.org/spiral/).
To benefit most from this event participants are asked to come with an open heart and mind and a willingness to share. The session is open to anyone of 16 years or older.

Additional booking informationThis event will be run within any current Covid restriction guidelines applicable at the time and participants may be asked to abide by social distancing rules. Anyone with any Covid-like symptoms or who has been in known contact with anyone testing positive for Covid-19 will not be allowed to attend. You will ask to provide contact details for ‘track and trace’ purposes. Further instructions to ensure the safety of all taking part will be sent out once participants have registered.
Know before you go
We will be walking along uneven, sandy footpaths. If you have any mobility, or other health conditions, please let us know in confidence and we can aim to accommodate them.
What to bring
Please bring appropriate outdoor clothes and footwear for conditions on the day. There is not much cover from the sun or other elements on the dunes. We do not plan to cancel in the event of rain (except if weather is really severe). We will be sitting still in one place at several points so you may wish to bring a small cushion or sit mat. We will also take a break for lunch during the session – so please bring any sustenance you may need, including plenty to drink.
