About the event
Led by Vanessa Lloyd of the Sea Watch Foundation, this session will start with an introduction in a classroom at Kilve Court Outdoor Centre. This will include an illustrated talk on the general biology and classification of cetacean species, species identification, conservation issues and recommended survey methodology. This will be followed, after lunch, by a sea watch at Kilve Beach to put our skills into practice. You can either drive from the Centre to the Beach or it is a 30 minute walk .
Know before you go
Kilve Court is fully accessible for people with reduced mobility. On the sea watch in the afternoon we will walk a short distance from the main beach along the cliff path. There is a gentle incline and it can be rough under foot.

What to bring
Please bring your own packed lunch. There is also a shop in Kilve Village and a small cafe at the Chantry near Kilve Beach. For the second part of the training will be sitting in one place for up to 2hrs. You will need to wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and something to sit on. Bring snacks and something to drink. There are toilets at Kilve Court and at the car park at Kilve Beach.
