Geology Walk Helwell Bay - Watchet
Sunday 25 November 13:30 - 15:30
Our visit is timed to start at 1.30pm so that we have time to walk along the cliff path and then down to onto the beach at Helwell Bay to return by 3.30pm. The walk will be led by local geologist, Andy King and Natural England’s senior geologist, Dave Evans, who will introduce you to some of the amazing geological stories that can be told along this stretch of coast and show you some of the rock formations and fossils that can be found here. Wildlife Trust staff will give us a briefing on what to expect before we start.
Please bring warm and waterproof clothes. You will be clambering over slippery rocks and muddy foreshore so wear walking boots or even better wellingtons.
Where: We shall be meeting outside the Visitors Centre in the Harbour Road car park in Watchet (by the train station). The car park is pay and display (£1.50 for 2 hours and £2.50 for 4 hours). There are other car parks and street parking available in Watchet.
Contact/Booking Information: Please sign up for the event by emailing . We will then be able to contact you in advance in case of bad weather or cancellation. Please let us how many are in your party.
Cost: Free, but donations welcome, (after the event).
