About the event
The translocation of pine martens to Exmoor is completed welcoming 19 native pine martens back to their former range, as part of the Two Moors Pine Martens Bounce Back Project. Take a walk into Horner Woods with Project Lead Tracey Hamston to visit the soft release pen used for the translocation and hear the behind-the-scenes details of the project that led up to this historic event.
The walk will start from Horner Farm and take approximately an hour. The walk will largely be along the main track in Horner Woods which is relatively flat. The walk in will take 20 minutes and the walk out will be an additional 20 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes for the walk like walking boots/shoes or trainers. The last few minutes of the walk will be off the main track so we recommend wearing clothing that will protect your legs from vegetation scratches, ticks etc.
This activity is free, but booking is essential. This walk & talk is a part of the Exmoor Wildlife Celebration event held on 26th October, with plenty of additional activities for you to get involved in at Horner Farm from 12pm-5pm. See the full event details here: Exmoor Wildlife Celebration | Somerset Wildlife Trust
Car park is a National Trust car park which is pay and display or free for National Trust members (please bring your National Trust card to scan).
