About the event
Scything is a historic technique for managing meadow grasslands and maintaining flower rich biodiverse meadows. It’s a fantastic skills to learn particularly if you manage a private of community meadow space. During this course you’re learn about the tools, practical skills and ecological value of this technique from Andi Rickard - national scything champion and teaching member of the Scythe Association of Britain and Ireland.
You do not need to own your own scythe to come on a course as all equipment will be provided on the day. Sturdy foot wear, weather proof clothing and long sleeves/trousers are essential. Please be aware that the is a practical course which will require a reasonable level of physical fitness (walking, carrying a large tool, swinging movement).
There are no toilets on site and you will need to bring a packed lunch.
