You may have seen recent reports about the discovery of a type of Avian Bird Flu in dead wild birds and some farm birds across Europe. This is obviously of great concern to us - particularly in the case of our wetland reserves which are currently home to many wintering waterfowl. We have put in place a system for monitoring our reserves more closely in the next coming weeks, but would ask that members and visitors to our reserves are vigilant on our behalf. Please report any cases of dead wild waterfowl such as swans, geese, ducks and gulls, or five or more dead wild birds of other species in the same location, directly to the Defra helpline 03459 33 55 77.
