What is Will for Wildlife Week?

Will for Wildlife Week is a campaign to highlight how leaving a gift in your will can benefit wildlife in Somerset.

Why should I leave a gift in my will to Somerset Wildlife Trust?

Somerset is home to unique and stunning wildlife that we all enjoy. By including a gift to Somerset Wildlife Trust in your will, you can help us protect local wildlife for future generations to enjoy.

How will my gift help protect local wildlife?

It could be used to:

  • Purchase nature reserves that may otherwise be lost forever.
  • Improve and conserve our 80 nature reserves.
  • Create new habitats to protect wild flower meadows and wetlands.
  • Teach young people to care for and enjoy their local environment.
  • Campaign against major threats to Somerset’s endangered habitats and species.

How do I take up the offer?

1. Check the offers made by Participating Solicitors when they are available.

2. Select a solicitor and contact them quoting “Will for Wildlife Week” to arrange an appointment.

3. Beforehand, try to list all your assets and decide to whom you would like to leave them.  Once you have looked after your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift to Somerset Wildlife Trust when making your list.

4. If you decide to include a legacy to the Trust, please consider a residuary legacy under which Somerset Wildlife Trust receives a portion of your estate rather than a set amount of money. Residuary legacies retain their value because they follow inflation. Please also advise your solicitor of our registered charity number (238372).

How much does it cost to draft a will?

Fees vary. Please check with participating solicitors directly.

How much should I leave?

This will depend on your own financial circumstances and to whom you wish to leave your estate. You don’t need to be wealthy to leave a gift to Somerset Wildlife Trust.  We welcome gifts whatever their size.
