Somerset Wildlife Trust

Work For Us|

We have loads of great wildlife events for adults, kids and families in Somerset. Hopefully the list below will give you lots of ideas for things to do, and give you more information about the interesting and fun activities you can take part in. Take a look at what's on below.

Trouble finding your way?

Because some of our events and things to do are held in the wilds of Somerset they include a grid reference as a meeting point - post codes are too imprecise. To see the location for the activity on a map go to Street Map and type in the grid reference (e.g. ST456437 no spaces.) If you zoom out you will first see the OS Explorer and Landranger maps which have more detail and then larger scale maps. Go to Street Map now.

This May will once again be known as Naturally Healthy Month, as Active Devon and Public Health in Somerset coordinate its Naturally Healthy Campaign on behalf of the Devon and Somerset Local Nature Partnership.  Building on the success of Devon’s previous campaigns, and with the help of Somerset Wildlife Trust, this will be Somerset’s first year in the programme, and it is hoped that it will be as successful as it has been for Devon in previous years.

Please join us on a visit to the Blashford Lakes reserve in Hampshire. The lakes are a series of flooded former gravel pits surrounded
by willow, birch and alder woodland, as well as grassland. The reserve attracts thousands of wildfowl in winter as well as bittern
and good numbers of woodland birds including redpoll, siskin and brambling.
