Wild Paths Traineeship 

Wild Paths 2018 at Kingcombe

Do you dream of working in conservation? Make that dream a reality by learning practical conservation skills on our Wild Paths training scheme.    

This scheme is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund Skills for the Future programme. We are looking for 10 enthusiastic trainees who want a career working outdoors with wildlife and people. Placements start on 1st September 2019 for 9 months, based at one of five Wildlife Trusts in the South West. You don't need to have any prior formal training in this sector, all training costs are covered and you will receive £1000 per month as a training bursary. Deadline for applying is 5pm on Thursday 6th June 2019.

Senior Ecologist

Are you an experienced ecologist from the conservation sector, keen to act as technical and strategic lead on our ecology work? Could you lead the development and delivery of the Trust’s landscape-scale conservation programmes? If so, we'd love to hear from you!   

We're looking for someone with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience working with nature conservation organisations in the public and/or voluntary sectors and with an in-depth knowledge of the ecology of a broad range of UK habitats and species. We are particularly interested in ecologists with some knowledge of the planning system, net gain approaches and a keen understanding of conservation legislation, policy and theory on landscape-scale conservation and ecological networks.

Fundraising and Marketing Administrator


Are you ready to make your mark as our Fundraising and Marketing Administrator supporting the charity’s membership and income generation?  Are you interested in wildlife conservation and want to help us achieve our ambitious plans to ensure Somerset remains a wildlife-rich county? Do you want to help us grow our supporter base and income using your strong administration and organisational skills?

Somerset Wildlife Trust is looking for a self-motivated, organised and committed administrator to get fully immersed in our Fundraising and Marketing department.  This role is vital to support growing our membership, and to manage donations and our supporter records, and to provide administrative support to a busy Fundraising and Marketing team.
