On this guided walk led by local geologists, Andy King and Dave Evans, we will head west along the beach from Kilve Pill, where there are plenty of fossils to see to help 'build up' a picture of the environment and marine life of the west Somerset coast 200 million years ago. We will also investigate and explain the ‘International Stratotype Reference Section’ (the 'Golden Spike') near East Quantoxhead before returning to Kilve Pill via the cliff top coast path.
Wildlife Trust staff will give us a briefing on what to expect before we start. Please wear suitable footwear for walking over slippery rocks and boulders and appropriate clothing for protection from the weather (waterproofs and/or sun protection).
Where: Kilve Beach Car Park, Sea Lane, TA5 1EG (pay and display – note: ticket machine is by the Chantry Tea Gardens before you reach the car park)
