Somerset's Wildlife Garden: Hazelwood Farm
About the event
This event will go ahead subject to government advice. Please check back for further updates.
Mrs Smart is very kindly opening her garden to share her wildlife gardening tips and ideas, and to offer you tea and cake to raise funds for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
The garden has evolved over so many years, from a cottage in the middle of a field, to surrounded by lawns, trees, hedges and flower borders, with a recent addition of a pond. Vegetables are grown in no dig raised beds, and it is managed as organically as possible. A wide variety of birds visit in winter including white wagtails and mistle thrushes, with spotted flycatcher and swallows nesting in the garage last summer. Butterfloes last year included a clouded yellow and three elephant hawk moth caterpillars in one hanging basket.
Directions: We are the only property with the post code TA20 4JW. Half a mile west of Winsham village on the B3162 Chard to Bridport Road.
