Are you a passionate, experienced ecologist who is ready to develop and lead our landscape-scale conservation strategy? If you are passionate about restoring nature at a large scale, developing successful partnerships and have demonstrable experience as an ecologist this senior role could be the next step in your career.

This post involves bringing together ecological monitoring, data and landscape-scale conservation science to define the direction of the Trust’s conservation work aiming to restore nature at a landscape scale. A member of the Senior Leadership Team, the post holder will oversee the development of programmes that create a coherent and resilient ecological network across Somerset and provide the technical ecological lead across the Trust including the achievement of positive biodiversity outcomes through the planning process.

With strong project management experience, this postholder will take a broad strategic approach to the whole organisation, establishing effective systems and frameworks, ensuring all support services enable staff and volunteers to achieve our charitable objectives.

Do you have experience of collating data and providing evidence to enable decsion-making that achieves positive biodiversity outcomes? Do you have experience of achieving successful outcomes for biodiversity, working within local and national planning and policy frameworks, the application of Net Gain and biodiversity offsetting? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

We’re looking for someone who can work with a small team, is polite, confident, reliable and organised. You will be hardworking, a fast and enthusiastic learner and someone who is continuously aiming to increase their knowledge and perfect their skills. You will be supporting the delivery of a wide range of ecological consultancy projects across the UK and therefore commercial awareness is essential.

We’re looking for someone who can work with a small team, both formally and informally, building trust and earning respect of key staff and fellow directors. You will be able to contribute and lead where required and have a genuine belief in conservation of the environment. As SWT(Sales) Ltd is a subsidiary of SWT, but operates independently, the Director should be aware of potential conflicts of interest and protect the reputation of SWT, as well as nurturing the operating independence of SWT(Sales)Ltd.
