We’re looking for someone who can work with a small team, both formally and informally, building trust and earning respect of key staff and fellow directors. You will be able to contribute and lead where required and have a genuine belief in conservation of the environment. As SWT(Sales) Ltd is a subsidiary of SWT, but operates independently, the Director should be aware of potential conflicts of interest and protect the reputation of SWT, as well as nurturing the operating independence of SWT(Sales)Ltd.

Are you an experienced and passionate ecologist? Would you like to drive our work restoring nature at scale in Somerset? Have you got the energy and enthusiasm to lead a committed team of ecologists to have an impact for wildlife across the county? If this sounds like you, apply!  

We’re looking for a passionate, and experienced ecologist to develop and lead our landscape-scale strategy. Based at either our Cheddar or Taunton offices but with the need for regular travel across the county, this is a crucial, strategic post defining the direction of the Trust’s conservation work to restore nature at a landscape scale. The post holder will oversee the development of programmes and projects that create a coherent and resilient ecological network across Somerset and provide the technical ecological lead across the Trust including the achievement of positive biodiversity outcomes through the planning process.

Assistant Reserves Manager - West Somerset and the Blackdowns

Do you want to do practical estate management on nature reserves across south and west Somerset? Are you great at working independently and as part of a team? Are you happy working outside, a flexible worker and can operate a range of machinery and equipment? If this sounds like you, apply!  

We're looking for an Assistant Reserves Manager to join Somerset Wildlife Trust’s experienced team of eight dedicated and professional land managers in one of the most biodiverse counties of England. You will work across south and west Somerset on the practical estate management of a number of fantastic nature reserves as well as the implementation of reserve projects. You will be working closely with contractors and dedicated volunteers.  You should be physically fit, be willing to work flexibly and possess the necessary ‘tickets’ and/or certificates to operate a range of machinery and equipment.  You will be required to work independently and as part of a team. This will be a fantastic step on the way for someone looking to develop a great career in conservation and reserves management.
