Team Wilder and Covid-19
Due to the Covid-19 situation, several of the Trust's operations have ceased, and we have focused our attentions on creating more online content and helping people to connect with nature from their homes. So you can still become a Wilder Champion or Leader from home!
Wilder Leaders and Champions
Our plan to create a wilder Somerset cannot happen without grassroots support and activism. For the momentum to build, we need people to take the lead and champion nature - whether it is directly working with nature, inspiring other people to act, or asking local and national governments to act. We each have a role to play. Our Wilder Champions and Leaders are a vital part in helping us to achieve nature's recovery by restoring habitats, inspiring communities and bringing wildlife back in their local area.
We host free training courses for all of our Champions and Leaders who have signed up. These courses will cover practical tools for creating wilder spaces, as well as specific training for each different role. We will also be hosting online webinar training sessions on a variety of topics.
Do you want to lead change in your community?
Become a Wild Leader
Wilder Leaders are people who have a great idea for - or have already started - their own wild projects and are willing to help lead change, get others on board and be part of a wild movement. It could be in your school, business, church, workplace or community. You might be looking to grow a community orchard, start a friends-of-group, adopt an area of river or make your village plastic free. Whatever your wild idea we will join you on your journey, supporting you with training and resources, connecting you with other leaders, celebrating and promoting your work.
Become a Wilder Champion
Our champions are volunteers of Somerset Wildlife Trust. Wilder Champions are people who will help us deliver our public engagement programmes and create a Wilder movement from the ground up. Depending on your experience, you could host events, deliver talks, network with likeminded people or deliver school assemblies. You will represent the Trust and be an ambassador for our work. You will enjoy engaging with others and be confident speaking in public to a wide range of audiences. And of course, you’ll be passionate about creating a Wilder Somerset!
So, are you ready to help create a wilder Somerset in your community?
We host free training courses for each of our champions and leaders who have signed up. These courses will cover practical tools for creating wilder spaces, as well as specific training for each different role.
