Where are we and what do we do?
The Heart of the Levels group is centred on Langport and Somerton, but group members come from all surrounding parishes from Fivehead to Keinton Mandeville, Hambridge to Compton Dundon and a lot more besides. They have a wide-ranging interest in nature, with their talks ranging across the natural world from bees to killer whales, buzzards to herbal remedies, as well as Somerset-specific wildlife talks.
The group also holds local walks which are accompanied by guides who can help with identification and information on flora and fauna. The Heart of the Levels group is open to all ages and interests and encourages families to join in too.
Where do we meet?
Talks are given every second Tuesday, in the Parish Rooms, Market Square, Somerton, TA11 7NB at 7:30 pm, and end around 9:00 pm with tea and coffee.
How can you help?
The Heart of the Levels committee is always looking for help with fresh ideas for talks, assistance on talk nights, or even joining the committee so please get in touch if you are interested. Similarly, Mark Green, our local Reserves Manager, is always looking for volunteers to help maintain our local reserves and the group can help put you in touch if this is of interest to you.

Nature reserves
Within the Heart of the Levels area lie some of the county's most threatened habitats and precious species and Somerset Wildlife Trust manages its own nature reserves to give them the protection that they deserve. These reserves are right on our doorstep and are great places to enjoy and to explore the wildlife and landscapes that we often take for granted. Click on the boxes below for more details of some of our nearby reserves.
