Training in how to carry out The Wildlife Trust’s ShoreSearch citizen science project https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/get-involved/other-ways-get-involved/shoresearch
It will enable you to assist with ecological surveys of Somerset shores with the aid of Somerset Wildlife Trust staff and other local experts. A series of surveys are planned along the Somerset Coast in the 12 month period after this training. The session will start in the Beach Hotel with an introduction at the ShoreSearch protocol and some basic identification skills practice. This will be followed by putting the survey methods into practice on the seashore at Minehead.
Where: Beach Hotel, The Avenue, Minehead, TA24 5AP. There is plenty of pay and display parking nearby.
Refreshments: Tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring your own packed lunch and any other snacks/drinks you require (or you can purchase food nearby or in the Hotel).
Dress & Kit: Bring appropriate warm and waterproof outdoor clothing and wellington boots.
Charge for training:This event is free. However, donations to Somerset Wildlife Trust to help it continue its work along the coast and across the county are very welcome.

This training is suitable anyone over 16 years old, but younger children (8+) are welcome if accompanied by an adult. The fieldwork will involve walking down over muddy and slippery sections of the shore. If you have limited mobility contact Mark Ward for more information. Dogs are not allowed in the Hotel but can join us on the beach if kept under strict control
