We have loads of great wildlife events for adults, kids and families in Somerset. Hopefully the list below will give you lots of ideas for things to do, and give you more information about the interesting and fun activities you can take part in. Take a look at what's on below.
Because some of our events and things to do are held in the wilds of Somerset they include a grid reference as a meeting point - post codes are too imprecise. To see the location for the activity on a map go to Street Map and type in the grid reference (e.g. ST456437 no spaces.) If you zoom out you will first see the OS Explorer and Landranger maps which have more detail and then larger scale maps. Go to Street Map now.

Join us in the community garden to plant out onions, leeks, radish, lettuce, rocket and other salad leaf plugs. We will also have a go at building brassica cages, weeding the beds and harvesting any nettles around the site to make fertiliser. We will also start growing herbs in pots. This is a practical volunteering session, please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We generally break for lunch around 12.30 so please bring a packed lunch.
After the devastation wreaked by supporting wars and development in the last century, British woodland is now protected and preserved for the nation. But in recent years it has been threatened by a more insidious danger - that of disease, with many of our traditional species in danger of extinction. The Woodland Trust explains why and what we are doing about it.
This event is now fully booked. Sorry for any disappointment. Please keep looking at our events page for similar events in the future.
Discover the best way to create or restore a pond with John Dickson, chairman of Somerset Reptile and Amphibian Group. After a detailed talk with a chance to ask questions, we will be visiting a local pond creation project to learn more.
