Facilitator – Mendip Hills
Part-time role on fixed term contract (maternity cover), 3 days per week from March 2019, based at Cheddar, Somerset
£23,691-25,750 per annum (based on experience) pro-rata
Somerset Wildlife Trust is seeking an exceptional individual for this exciting role within the Trust. The role exists to work with landowners and external organisations in the Mendip Hills as part of our Countryside Stewardship Facilitation Fund project. This work is helping to restore, recreate and link up valuable grassland and woodland habitats across the Mendip Hills Living Landscape.
The Countryside Stewardship Facilitation Fund supports people and organisations that bring farmers, foresters and other land managers together to improve the local natural environment at a landscape scale. The role of the Mendip Hills Facilitator is to bring local landowners together to work cooperatively to deliver Countryside Stewardship objectives. The role will include planning, coordinating and carrying out training events for landowners and supporting landowners with delivering Countryside Stewardship, as well as habitat restoration and species monitoring.
You will have proven experience of working with land owners and managers to provide nature conservation advice as well as working knowledge of habitat and species management. You will have experience of project management, budget management and writing reports and claims. You will have substantial knowledge of Countryside Stewardship as well as the ecology of UK grassland and woodland habitats and species, including habitat surveys and GIS mapping.
