Wild Thyme

Wild Thyme (polytrichus)Wild Thyme (Thymus polytrichus) is found in dry grassland, heaths and dunes throughout Britain. It is a low-growing plant with aromatic leaves, the flowers appearing between May and August. It has square stems that are hairy on two sides, and oval leaves. The purple flower heads are rounded with individual flowers typically 5 mm across. It is the food plant of the Large Blue butterfly and several moths.
