Some of the biggest issues facing hedgehogs are outside our immediate control. Busy roads and intensive farming are concerns we don’t have an ability to influence, but there are many things we can do in our own gardens and community places to make these spaces safer for hedgehogs.

Taunton Deane Area Group covers the district council areas of Taunton Deane - including Wellington, Wiveliscombe and Milverton. As part of Somerset Wildlife Trust, the group aims to promote and support wildlife issues in the widest sense through local wildlife walks, talks and events featuring conservation issues from climate change to food production, and biodiversity on land and in the ocean.
Taunton is our county-town and is a town that still retains a rural, easy-going charm, lying in a natural valley between the Quantock, Blackdown and Brendon Hills. The town has retained a diverse array of wildlife despite continued growth, and although habitat connectivity throughout and around the town is quite limited, sites within Taunton still count rarer species like kingfisher, barn owls, dormice, water voles, otters, and bats amongst the wildlife contingent.
