Somerset Botany Group

The group surveying at Callow RockWhat Does the Group Do?

The group meet every Tuesday throughout the year to carry out botanical surveys, from April to September, and to go for walks during the winter months.

Most of their survey work is carried out on Somerset Wildlife Trust nature reserves, but they also survey land belonging to other organisations.

Recently they have extended their range and now also survey on the Peat Moors and the Poldens.

The group are happy to receive requests to carry out surveys from local groups and reserve managers.

The History

The group was founded by local naturalist John Boyd, and was formerly known as the West Mendip Survey Team.
