Huish's environmental group LEAF have handed over a cheque to Somerset Wildlife Trust from the proceeds of a charity cake sale.
The group raised £96.45 by selling homemade cakes to students during break and lunchtime before half term, in a bid to raise awareness for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
Leaf is a group of students who share a passion for caring for and protecting the natural environment. They meet up once a week to try and promote ‘green issues’ such as recycling, Fair Trade and conservation. The group run awareness raising events throughout the year and get involved in conservation work.
Janet Keeble, Community Outreach Manager for Somerset Wildlife Trust, who visited Huish on Monday to accept the cheque, said: “It is absolutely amazing that these students have found time in their busy day to raise much needed funds for their local conservation charity.”
The group posed by the student-built pond to hand over the cheque and the sun even came out! Well done everyone.
