Wildlife Watch

Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts and the UK’s leading environmental action club for kids. Our aim is to encourage children to engage with the environment and the issues affecting it.

If you’d like to join one of our Wildlife Watch groups, we have a number across Somerset. Watch groups are run by experienced volunteers and provide a great setting for children aged 7-13 to find out about Somerset’s brilliant habitats and wildlife. Or maybe you’re just really passionate about wildlife and think you’d make a brilliant watch leader yourself? You can find out more below.

Lastly, if you want a challenge, why not support a young person with their hedgehog award! The award is self-supported and encourages children to develop their skills and knowledge whilst also helping your local wildlife. Have fun with friends and family by completing eight nature-inspired activities - From spotting wildlife to getting crafty, there’s something for everyone to try.

Hedgehog Award

We all know that being out and about in nature is really good for us, and this is even more important for young children. There’s a lot of evidence to suggest that children who are encouraged to engage with the wilder world are healthier, happier and more confident. We’ve gathered together some brilliant hedgehog resources at the bottom of this page, to help you engage with the young people in your life.  Or why not give them a go yourself. It’s for the young AND the young at heart.
