Heath Spotted-orchid

Scientific name: Dactylorhiza maculata

The Heath Spotted-orchid is found where the soil is acid and damp. It has a tall spike of pale pink to white flowers and grows about 4 to 50cm high.The lowest petal is marked with faint pink loops and has three lobes, the middle one being a short triangular tooth. The leaves normally have dark, circular purplish blotches.
