Community Barn Owl Project - We did it!
335 nest boxes in 335 parishes
The Trust’s 50th Anniversary year sees the conclusion of our biggest ever community conservation project with every parish in the county supporting the recovery of barn owls in Somerset. Each and every of the county’s 335 parishes is now hosting a barn owl nest box alongside the rough grassland hunting habitat needed to support breeding owls and their owlets. Following the ups and downs of the last three years, the support of local people in creating a place for barn owls within our communities has never been more important. Thank you for supporting the Somerset Community Barn Owl project and we've put together some of the milestones in the interactive timeline below.
||The Somerset Community Barn Owl Project is funded by Viridor Credits Environmental Company; a charity that distributes monies from the Landfill Communities Fund.
||The project is a collaboration with the Hawk and Owl Trust, a national charity dedicated to conserving wild birds of prey and owls and their habitats.
