We try to ensure that our talks cater for all interests and provide a varied programme covering wildlife and topical conservation issues.
In the summer months we hold monthly outdoor events (except August) at local Trust reserves and other places of natural interest. From September to April on the first Sunday of the month we run a series of walks/visits usually in the Group area, but often further afield.
We try to extend beyond our boundaries and work with other local groups. Our fund raising efforts are concentrated on our annual plant sale run jointly with the Polden Group. In 2010 we raised the magnificent sum of £2,300. Our members also actively support the Mendip Conservation Volunteers in their work on the Trust's Mendip reserves.
The Mendip Hills Group is based on Cheddar and our area covers the Mendip Hills north to Shipham and west to Crook Peak. Our boundaries also extend onto the levels around Wedmore, Mark, Axbridge and the Brent Villages, and down to the Bristol Channel at Burnham, Berrow and Brean
We hold regular indoor meetings from September to April on the third Tuesday of the month. Currently these are held at the Cheddar Catholic Church Hall, Tweentown, Cheddar, BS27 3HU.
