We have loads of great wildlife events for adults, kids and families in Somerset. Hopefully the list below will give you lots of ideas for things to do, and give you more information about the interesting and fun activities you can take part in. Take a look at what's on below.

Because some of our events and things to do are held in the wilds of Somerset they include a grid reference as a meeting point - post codes are too imprecise. To see the location for the activity on a map go to Street Map and type in the grid reference (e.g. ST456437 no spaces.) Who Lives along and in the River Tone? Come and find out. Join us for an interactive walk along the River Tone, learning the story of Ollie the Otter and the other creatures that live there.

Tuesday 22 August

A walk around the Bishops Palace Moat in Wells with local bat expert Dave Cottle and members of the Somerset Bat Group. Learn how to use a bat detector to identify different species, and fascinating facts about bats.

Thursday 24 August

Come and join Somerset Wildlife Trust at Clark’s Village for a Busy Buzzy Bee Day! There will be bees hiding around the village and we need them counted, so join the wildlife trail and see if you can find them! Then afterwards, there will be wildlife crafts for you to do too…See you then! Buzzzzzz buzzzzzz!!!

Friday 25 August

A fun sensory session of interactive activities focussing on the five senses, sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. Close your eyes and listen for the sounds of the wildlife around you, and collect materials to mash up and make smelly cocktails! Plus lots of other nature fun and activities to enjoy.

Monday 28 August

This Bank holiday unleash your love for wildlife and join in with our family activities from nature trails to wildlife crafts. Perhaps you would like to go on the search for bugs and examine them closely under a microscope. Or you would like to take a gentle wonder on a wildlife walk.

Sunday 3 September

A walk with Tony House and Simon Wiltshire (Biodiversity & Environmental Officer) round the largest working man-made hole in Europe - also a wildlife haven and nesting site for Peregrines, Ravens, Sparrowhawks and Buzzards and home to many other birds, butterflies, Otters and wildflowers.

Saturday 9 September

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, but we are sorry to say that this event has ben cancelled. SWT are running two Family Forest School sessions in Asham Wood this summer, with generous support from Hanson UK’s community fund, and led by Freya Morgan from Spindle Tree Learning.  ​​​​​Come along to have a go at den-building, woodland crafts, wildlife spotting, campfire cooking, songs and stories. Enjoy some quality family time in this beautiful ancient woodland.
