If you’ve always enjoyed spotting our feathered friends, but want to progress your identification skills a little further, then this event is for you.   During this session, with the help of some more seasoned birders, you will be able to find out all there is to know about the birds that call  Westhay Moor home – one of the UK’s most renowned locations for wetland birds. You will pick up some useful skills to make the most of your binoculars and go away being able to identify many bird species.  There will also be a nature trail, craft activities and games too, so all the family are welcome.

*Please note Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead. There is disabled access, but the terrain can become treacherous after wet weather. If you have any concerns please contact Becky on the email address below.

Where

Westhay Nature Reserve

The reserve is located at  ST 456 437

By road: North of the village of Westhay. Turn off the B3151 to Westhay Moor Drove.

By bicycle: A National Cycle Network route runs along a disused railway line, just south of Westhay village.

Look out for the brown tourist signs (Westhay Moor NNR): From the Avalon Marshes Centre there is one just before the Godney right hand turn to Westhay Moor, one in Westhay village when coming from Meare village, and one in Westhay village when coming from the Avalon Marshes Centre.
