Campaign for Wildlife
Somerset Wildlife Trust is operating in a fast-changing environment. The impacts of climate change, shrinking natural resources, a tough economic climate, BREXIT and most of all the continuing depletion of our habitats and the wildlife they contain are just some of the challenges we face.
We want everyone in Somerset to value, enjoy and share wildlife in the county and we believe strongly that nature matters, not only in its own right, but for the huge benefits it brings to the health and wellbeing of everybody. We have a greater responsibility than ever before to ensure we inspire and develop the next generation of conservation champions, wildlife enthusiasts and lovers of the natural world so we can enjoy a landscape rich in wildlife in the future.
As a result we place particular emphasis on our work with children, inspiring and engaging families and the wider public through our annual events programme, community projects and programmes, promoting the benefits of volunteering and doing more to help people visit and enjoy our reserves. We believe that when people experience the wonder of our county’s special wild places and green spaces, they are better able to understand why they need our protection and to join the fight to protect them.
